Message From The Exalted Ruler
Newport Harbor Elks Lodge # 1767
Farewell Message From Outgoing ER
Pictured at left are the winners of three very special annual awards: Officer of the Year – Jack Fettig, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Elk of the Year – John Hayden, Webmaster of NewportElks.Com, and lastly, our Citizen of the Year (accepted by her husband, pictured) – She is the outgoing President of the Newport Harbor Honey Dooz, a tireless volunteer for the Lodge and for the Lyons Club and the Boys and Girls Club of Costa Mesa. She is also a participant in national ophthalmology research programs, has met with U.S. Congressmen, appeared on numerous television shows, was a panel member at a multi-national convention of Ophthalmologists in Florida, and has served on the board of a group called "Orange County Friends of Guide Dogs for the Blind." She is also First Lady to our next State Vice-President – she is Kathy Blake.
As your outgoing Exalted Ruler, and on behalf of my corps of officers, I wish to thank the Members of Newport Harbor Lodge for your support and show of confidence this past year. My motto for the past year was simply “Elk Strong.” It was meant to embody the principles of unity, harmony, shared aims and team spirit. I am proud of our efforts to live up to that motto. Under the direction of Webmaster John Hayden, our NewportElks.com Internet website set a new high standard for comprehensive public relations, electronic media, calendaring, and intra-District coordination. I am also pleased and proud that our Newport Harbor Elks Yacht Club became an officially recognized Elks organization under the Statutes of the Order and the By-laws of this Lodge. I am also proud to have been able to continue to serve as Vice-President of the Newport Harbor Charitable Tate Fund, Inc., which administers the sizeable charitable bequest of the late Herman Tate on behalf of this Lodge, and I am pleased to have been able to help advance its vital charitable work. This past year we were able to donate over $50,000 to more than two dozen different local charitable programs, including some $18,000 in scholarships. In the coming year, I look forward to extending my volunteer work in this regard as the Bequests and Living Trust Chairman for the Orange Coast District.
Lastly, I would like to recognize the efforts of my First Lady. I am so very pleased and proud that my wife Cathy has devoted herself to volunteerism in this Lodge, and that she has been so warmly welcomed by our Members. I know that we can count on her continued enthusiasm and participation in our important projects and activities this coming year as the newly elected President of the Newport Harbor Honey Dooz.
Thank you all for your participation and support, which has made our Lodge Elk Strong!

The new Elks Automated Greeters System is now up and operational. This new feature of the Newport Harbor Elks website allows lodge members to volunteer to act as a Door Host or Greeter online using a simple calendar interface. No more phone calls to make or sign-up sheets. No more emails to send. Just select the AGS Calendar from the Calendars drop down menu, choose an available date and click on the associated Host or Greet button. That's it!! That simple!! The system will send you a confirmation email when you sign-up. It will also send you an email reminder the day before you are scheduled to be a Host or Greeter. And don't worry... if you need to change the date or cancel for any reason, the system will allow you to do that too. * Please note: You must be a member of the Newport Harbor Elks lodge, registered on the website, and logged on in order to use the AGS.
